FEBRILE INFECTION-RELATED EPILEPSY SYNDROME (FIRES)

Mandatory seizures

Focal or multifocal seizures, which may include focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures. Common ictal symptoms are eye deviation and hemifacial jerking. Seizures increase in frequency and duration and are treatment resistant, culminating in super-refractory status epilepticus.
