Imaging

Neuroimaging may appear normal initially or may show bi-temporal, insular or basal ganglia hyperintensities. Over time, diffuse cerebral atrophy and/or signal change in the temporal lobes, cerebral cortex, periventricular white matter, hippocampi or basal ganglia is seen.
