SELF-LIMITED (FAMILIAL) NEONATAL EPILEPSY (SeLNE)

• Self-limited (familial) infantile epilepsy and self-limited familial neonatal-infantile epilepsy: distinguished by the age of seizure onset (in all affected family members if familial)
• Benign neonatal sleep myoclonus: characterized by myoclonus in drowsiness/sleep that can change in frequency, amplitude and location
• As acute provoked seizures are common, the individual (and affected family members if familial) should be screened to exclude acute causes e.g. hypoxia-ischemia, bleed, infection, stroke etc
• The individual (and affected family members if familial) should be screened to exclude a structural cause e.g. focal cortical dysplasia
