The background EEG is normal.
The interictal EEG is usually normal. If abnormality is seen this is characterized by focal (usually temporal) epileptiform abnormalities; these may also be widespread.
EEG abnormality is enhanced by sleep deprivation, in drowsiness and in sleep. EEG abnormality may be activated by hyperventilation.
There are inadequate published records of ictal EEG in this syndrome.
