PATTERN OF INHERITANCE

There are reports of Panayiotopoulos syndrome or other epilepsy syndromes in siblings and in families, suggesting that there are genetic influences that are likely complex/polygenic.

FAMILY HISTORY OF SEIZURES/EPILEPSY

There is usually no family history of epilepsy or febrile seizures, however rare cases are reported with family members with epilepsy or febrile seizures.
