SCHIZENCEPHALY

  • Porencephaly - distinguished by the absence of grey matter lining the schizencephalic cleft.
  • Subcortical nodular heterotopia - is associated with a bulge, rather than a 'dimple' in the ventricle wall
  • Focal cortical dysplasia - while in FCD type IIb, white matter signal abnormality may be seen to taper to the ventricle, abnormal grey matter does not extend through the white matter to the ventricle.
